Students are already angry about seeing their student debts increase by 5.1 per cent and the situation is set to worsen as inflation hits 7 per cent.

, raising the cost of living while studying, and increasing the amount that students must later repay, says higher education expert Andrew Norton.indexed to the consumer price index, Mr Norton said that already-simmering student anger as inflation hit 5.1 per cent was likely to be inflamed as it rises to 7 per cent or more.

“So the government contribution is indexed, but the government then gives the universities their set amount each year. That means universities will have to deliver fewer places for the set amount of money,” Mr Norton said. “Certainly, the UK, Canada and others have really stepped up [in competing for international students]. China’s stepping up in competition in terms of providing a high-quality service for international students.”The Australian Financial ReviewHe said the declining Australian dollar kept a lid on increasing tuition fees and that the discounting of tuition fees introduced under COVID-19 would likely stay in place until student numbers started to rebound.

Students would wise to not rack up huge debts. The amount of woke bs courses that don’t lead to an actual job is significant. Sort ya selves out kids. Don’t listen to the woke teachers. Choose an actual profession.
