It’s more incumbent for politicians to stand up to the NRA than it is to stand up to Trump. Trump is temporary, but people will continue to die from guns long after we are done with the Donald.

72,000 opioid deaths in 2017 thanks to a crisis Doctors helped create. 15,549 gun deaths. Remember when doctors used to party and drink and eat at expensive restaurants with RX reps.

Maybe these doctors can share their experiences about creating an opioid epidemic in this country that’s killing thousands of people. Or maybe they won’t.

I hope some part of his campaign focuses on the criminals, you know, the root of the problem.

Guns deaths. 33,000 Medical malpractice deaths. 250,000 Doctors, please spend more time on patients, less on politics

The NRA knows how to manipulate its moronic members using 'whataboutisms,' to justify their greedy agenda. This compelling article is beyond their limited comprehension of what physicians experience when dealing with the aftermath of gun violence.

The NRA shot Dr. Sak? Anyone want to help the democratic run inner cities? canigetachicagobodycount

Great show today, amazing what he does for others now... nprfreshair

A physician's opinion on my civil rights counts for about as much as a constitutional lawyer's opinion on my cholesterol level.

Medical mistakes and malpractice kill multiple times more people each year than guns. Stay in your lane doctor.

The NRA vilifies school shooting survivors and tries to discredit physicians-now it looks like 'talk about malpractice' is the NRAbot roboresponse. They are a domestic terrorist organization made up of the most vile in our society. Their only 'lane' should be the exit lane.

In other news...npr will never print a positive and actual piece involving guns. Hey guys when was the last time you actually spoke to a professional anywhere related to firearms? Can't solve a problem when you constantly refuse to actually name the problem.

BS

Why don’t they share their experience of treating victims of medical malpractice, something they actually know about.

ooh we should have someone do this for auto deaths and medical malpractice.... you know, because they are principled and not partisan, right?

A Trauma Surgeon Who Survived Gun Violence Is Taking On The NRAWhen it comes to gun violence, trauma surgeon Joseph Sakran says, 'a lot of times people talk about statistics and numbers, but I think it's so important to move beyond that, because these aren't just numbers — these are people. Gun violence deserves to be firmly considered a public health issue first. Maybe he should clean his own house first...11,000 people are murdered by firearms each year...250,000 die to medical mistakes. 3rd highest cause of death in this country.
