The union lamented that the university management and the Plateau State government have grossly discriminated against its members and neglected them.

The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities , Plateau State University Chapter, has threatened that the crisis in the school will degenerate further if nothing is done about their plight.

According to the workers, the management of Professor Yohanna Izam and the University Governing Council failed to show any serious commitment to addressing their grievances which include alleged discrimination. The Senior varsity workers embarked on industrial action in December 2021 over issues including mainstreaming of hazard allowance at the Governing Council approved rate of N30,000 as against the N15,000 being paid by the university administration; payment of arrears of minimum wage from April 2019 to December 2020; payment of arrears of earned allowances; payment of arrears of salaries and regularization of the salary payday and constitution of a board to manage the staff gratuity fund.
