Chief Pete Arredondo told the Uvalde Leader-News on Friday that he has decided to step down for the good of the city administration. He was elected to the District 3 council position on May 7 and was sworn in — in a closed-door ceremony — on May 31, just a week after the massacre.
On June 21, the City Council voted unanimously to deny Arredondo a leave of absence from appearing at public meetings. Relatives of the shooting victims had pleaded with city leaders to fire him. Three minutes after 18-year-old Salvador Ramos entered the school, sufficient armed law enforcement were on scene to stop the gunman, McCraw testified. Yet police officers armed with rifles stood and waited in a school hallway for more than an hour while the gunman carried out the massacre. The classroom door could not be locked from the inside, but there is no indication officers tried to open the door while the gunman was inside, McCraw said.
Maybe he feels he can duck any responsibility for the mess that happened
The kids, poor kids, innocent kids, died when they shouldn't have as a result of incompetent political policing. I hope he and his colleagues are haunted in their dreams by these innocent kids for The rest of their useless lives.
Is a shame, he should be fire……he show that he is not good as his job… the dead will be for ever with him… Maybe because there were many us second generation…
May as well. Useless
Its a start, now resign as police chief
And so it is written.
Someone who’s both a Coward and a Liar should not be in any position of power, responsibility, or authority. Good riddance!
They’d show him the door, but were afraid he wouldn’t know how to use it.
He needs to be tried for manslaughter for every person that was killed at the school.
No, nothing fishy about that at all. 🙄
