Alabama classes aren’t required to specifically mention Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that nationally legalized abortion.

A 1975 state code states that any sex education materials should emphasize that abstinence from sexual activity is the only completely effective protection against pregnancy, STDs and AIDS, and that abstinence outside of marriage is the “expected social standard” for school-age children.

Science standards also require students to learn about asexual and sexual reproduction in animals, plants and humans in seventh grade. Third graders are also required to learn about birth, growth, reproduction and death among various organisms. The state’s focus on abstinence, as well as other aspects of Alabama’s sex ed law, have been scrutinized by experts and advocates in recent years.

Alabama still has no standard regarding medically accurate sex education instruction. However, Alabama does require inclusion of the latest medical information when providing instruction on contraceptives.

Why would health classes even discuss law in middle to high school? I swear... Alabama has crushed the pearls into powder.

It would be helpful if they would discuss it in full. Including why it was always considered a flawed ruling even by liberal judges such as Ginsberg. Then maybe students would see past the media gaslighting to the legal arguments that shaped the ruling and it’s demise.

I'll give the ladies a brief class. Ur in the process of losing every right u've ever known. Forced to have endless kids after they make contraception illegal. No exception for mental health. Remember Andrea Yates? Forced by her husband to repeatedly give birth.

Math, science, history, and... abortion? I don't recall learning about abortion or gender fluidity when going through school.
