the Los Angeles Times this week that she has now connected the show’s shortcomings in this area to her own failings.
“It was after what happened to George Floyd that I began to wrestle with my having bought into systemic racism in ways I was never aware of,” said Kauffman. “That was really the moment that I began to examine the ways I had participated. I knew then I needed to course-correct. “I’ve learned a lot in the last 20 years,” Kauffman continued. “Admitting and accepting guilt is not easy. It’s painful looking at yourself in the mirror. I’m embarrassed that I didn’t know better 25 years ago.”“I feel I was finally able to make some difference in the conversation,” she said. “I have to say, after agreeing to this and when I stopped sweating, it didn’t unburden me, but it lifted me up. But until in my next production I can do it right, it isn’t over.
Drivel. Helps me to just ignore any other TV production she creates.
Stupid statement plus they stole the idea from the show Living Single so What the hell is this all about. Living Single had lack of diversity and nobody complaining 🙄
🙄
Oh, god. Not EVERYTHING has to be that way. That show has been loved by all the ppl from every race in the way it has been created long ago. There is no need for this useless comment. Sh*t up.
We shouldn't force diversity for the sake of diversity. Reality is not like that. And sometimes writers want to tell a story inspired by real group of people. Do non-diverse groups exist in reality? They do. Why is it we want to force diversity in every piece of fiction now?
Oh come the fudge on
Okay but is she supporting Black writers because…
It’s a tv show who cares. She made millions off the show this means little
I don’t think that completely but having seen the kind of casting you can actually use I sort of agree... but I mean at least 3 of the main characters have some sort of ethnic diversity to them... David is jewish Matt has a mixed heritage and Jennifer is greek; but yh the extras
Aside that in New York apparently there's no people of every ethnicity, the most unrealistic part is how Phoebe and Joey when unemployed were able to afford their lifestyle, food and clothing.
Don’t worry … we were watching ‘Living Single’
A few of the early episodes have actual racism from the writers/directors
She doesn’t regret nothing. She’s just saying that coz of the political space where are In
bet you she didn’t regret it when she was getting paid for it tho
