Massive crowds descend on Sydney's CBD and other parts of NSW as teachers from Catholic and public schools unite to demand better pay and conditions, as Education Minister Sarah Mitchell claims their deal is the best in the country.

NSW Education Minister Sarah Mitchell has accused the union of politicising negotiations over teachers' pay and conditions."I am disappointed with the action today, it really does make it very difficult for thousands of families and students and it's frustrating that they're continuing to push down this cause rather than just to negotiate with us and try and reach a good outcome," Ms Mitchell said.

"We've got the most generous pay increase on the table of anywhere in the country, yet other states aren't seeing this sort of industrial action."More than a thousand people attended a rally in Wollongong this morning, as public school and Catholic school teachers from the Illawarra and the Shoalhaven took part in the joint industrial action."We are putting in so many hours outside of normal school hours," Ms Saunders said.

So the average pay for a secondary teacher in Victoria is $83693 and in NSW it’s $101859 yet the NSW teachers are striking. Surely not just because there is a AusLiberalParty premier? Eh AlboMP sallymcmanus who would have guessed?

Unions, the last remaining bastions of legalised thuggish crime.

Union power all the way.

How will more money change the working conditions they're complaining about

Up up. Yyess..

No photo of the Socialist Alliance stand welcoming protesters at St James station Auntie!

you gotta love a country where you can Protest, n the Government Will Listen, n Try to Help...

At least the NSW teachers are fighting, here in Vic, the AEU sold the teachers all out with that insulting 1% and they have all accepted it.

OK babysitters you can also have 2 paddle pops out of the freezer.

Year on year, we've poured more and more money into education - and standards keep falling. Outside of politics, teaching seems to be the one career where you get rewarded for continued failure.

Great to see! Hope they get a better offer!

But not over the forced injecting of minors. They got what they deserve

spoilt They have the easiest job unlike mining or aged care Many are lousy communicators

Offer them a larger pay rise to just teach and leave their own personal ideology and agendas out of classrooms

If they get a rise in pay for teaching can we expect police . Fire department and nurses on the same pay scale for a much more dangerous and energetic service expect a similar rise in keeping up with teachers pay scale especially with 12 weeks off . Wouldn't it be nice .

SarahMitchell Minister for Education is a career politician, never been a teacher or anything like it. SHE HASN’T GOT A CLUE! Her sound bites in the news and current affairs shows are dumb, disrespectful and show her ignorance.

Vax mandates, punching holes in workplaces, industries and families everywhere.

Well done to the teachers 👏👏👏👏👏👏

The Political Left are ruthless and brutal sad

The workers united…! ❤️

Good on them, mandates have put so much pressure on them, it really shows you how braindead Australia is when they banned hundreds of thousands of people from working crippling all industries, yet now the most vaccinated countries are the most infected places on earth.
