The Greens Senator, who is Indigenous, recently declared to Network Ten’s The Project that the Australian flag does not “represent me or my people” saying it was associated with the colonisation of Australia without permission or consent.

When Mr Bandt refused to stand in front of the Australian flag he said it was because the country has “work to do” on racism and because it is “hurtful to many Indigenous Australians”. Ms Price also blasted the Greens leader for the move saying it was “deeply disrespectful, deeply divisive behaviour” to suggest Indigenous Australians are “helpless people”.
