University of Washington\u002Dled study says the lowest low tides occurred during the year’s hottest days — and at the warmest times of day.

The study, published in the journal Ecology, notes that the lowest low tides of the year occurred during the year’s hottest days — and at the warmest times of day.

“Our observations also showed that for almost all species, there is at least a few observations where they were fine. And that’s interesting and exciting. Because it suggests that certain species or certain species in certain areas have some resiliency to these really extreme heat events and can point to areas for future research to understand why are they resilient,” said Raymond.Article contentHeat dome, Pineapple Express, water spout: Extreme weather events a new normal in B.C.

In total, they gathered 203 observations from 108 unique locations, from central B.C. down to Willapa Bay, Wash. Also contributing to the study were tribal governments in the U.S., plus other academics and environmental organizations. Additionally, air temperatures were much higher at inland sites compared to the outer coast, causing more stress on inland populations.
