Texas Gov. Greg Abbott wants lawmakers to work on a plan to protect students following last week’s mass shooting in Uvalde.
On Wednesday, the governor sent a letter to Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who presides over the Texas Senate, and House Speaker Dad Phelan requesting that legislative leaders meet in special legislative committees. His priorities include school safety, mental health, social media, police training and firearm safety.
The Republican-led committees will send recommendations for new laws to the governor and legislature."As Texans mourn the tragedy that occurred at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde last week, we as a State must reassess the twin issues of school safety and mass violence," reads the letter. "As leaders, we must come together at this time to provide solutions to protect all Texans. Accordingly, I hereby request that each of you convene a special legislative committee.
GregAbbott_TX Remember when you said you were mad when BetoORourke called you out for doing nothing….guess he was right…cause your doing nothing. God can’t protect, guns kill, and you don’t care about any brown kids, if it were white kids you would want to make a change!
Just schools? Guess you gotta start somewhere (for reelection of course)
Do something about the AR-15’
To hell with hot wheels!
Not matter what he does the far left we’ll only cry and complain. They would make up any excuse to deny any good idea, but if a Democrat lawmaker came up with that idea they would show praise, and that is why we are going backwards in this country.
Or you could rally your party in DC to support what works in every other country 🤷♂️ GunControlNow
blah, blah, blah
“Please get together and brainstorm because I’m not going to do anything. Also you don’t have to, just a request, thanks guyz”
