After arriving in Toronto from Indonesia three years ago as an international student, Saul, 24, has fallen in love with the city. The problem? He’s struggling to secure permanent residency, which he can only acquire after landing a full-time job for at least a year in his field of marketing.
While he has $15,000 looming in student debt, he said he’s lucky to have found rent for $600 a month living with another international student.“I usually make food at home. If I’m in a rush I eat frozen dinners or lunches before I go to my serving job or my internship twice a week,” Saul said. “I try to keep costs low as I make minimum wage.”
Saul came to Canada as a student and hopes to get his permanent residency. The challenge is he lives in an expensive city — Toronto — and he works a minimum-wage job as a server.
He just has to be one of those international students that drives a $100,000+ car, lives in a multi-million-dollar home, claims no income and collects government benefits. It's the Canadian way!
We are kinda full, maybe after the monkey pox pandemic?
Yes too expensive, next question…..
Probably better off staying in home country. Things are going south here fast
The answer is right there.
