The U.S. Justice Department said Sunday it will review the law enforcement response to the shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that left 19 students and two teachers dead. The U.S. Justice Department said Sunday it will review the law enforcement response to the shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that left 19 students and two teachers dead.

The review comes amid mounting pressure and questions about the shifting and at times contradictory information about what happened in the shooting last Tuesday at Robb Elementary School, and how police responded. Justice Department spokesman Anthony Coley said the review would be conducted in a fair, impartial and independent manner and that the findings would be made public. In a statement, Coley said the goal of the review is "to provide an independent account of law enforcement actions and response that day, and to identify lessons learned and best practices to help first responders prepare for and respond to active shooter events.

Authorities revealed on Friday that students and teachers repeatedly begged 911 operators for help even as a police commander told more than a dozen officers to wait in a school hallway. Officials said the commander believed that the suspect was barricaded inside an adjoining classroom and that there was no longer an active attack.

The revelation caused more grief and raised new questions about whether more lives were lost because officers did not act faster to stop the gunman, who was ultimately killed by Border Patrol tactical officers.

Police poorly handled responding to Texas shootingRetired LAPD Sergeant Cheryl Dorsey discusses police action in Texas school shooting. Inaction. I'm not even a journalist and I figured that out. The word 'action' should be in quotation marks there. This not on the law enforcement, it’s on the gun laws and the people who support them.

'Send the police now': Kids called 911 from Texas classroom as police waited'He's in room 112,' a girl whispered on the phone at 12:03 p.m., more than 45 minutes before police went in If I were the governor of Texas I'd fire the entire police force in that town, just as I would have fired the entire police force in Rotherham, England. It would cost the state money to replace a dead cop kids zero Those poor kids, being taught drills, taught that these people would come save them if something like this happened. They were let down hard. My heart hurts for the families and school staff.

Much like the Nova Scotia mass shooting, innocent people are dead because of a lack of common sense among Police. It'll be a whole new slew of excuses tomorrow There were kids calling into 911 while they waited outside. One girl did so for 40 minutes. They knew, they were cowards.
