Three Alabama high school football programs rank among the top 75 programs in the nation over the last nine years, according to High School Football America.

The Alabama teams to make the rankings were Thompson , Hoover and Central-Phenix City .

The top five teams, according to the rankings, are St. John Bosco , Mater Dei , IMG Academy , St. Thomas Aquinas and Allen . Thompson clearly has become the state’s most dominant program, winning the last three Class 7A state titles and going 39-2 over that time span. Since 2013, the Warriors are 76-30 overall. Since Mark Freeman took over in 2015, Thompson is 72-15 overall and 17-2 in the playoffs.

The game was played in Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Hoover, Thompson’s Region 3 rival, won five state titles during the nine-year timeframe, all under now former coach Josh Niblett. The Bucs’ last title came in 2017. Since 2013, the team is 102-20 with eight seasons of 10 wins or more.
