About 30 minutes earlier, he had messaged a contact online, saying:"I am going to kill my grandmother."Then, less than 15 minutes before heading to the school, came a third:"I am going to shoot an elementary school." At the school Ramos, who was wearing an armoured vest, barricaded himself inside a classroom"shooting anyone that was in his way", according to police.TributesPolice and others responding to the attack on Tuesday broke windows at the school in an effort to help students and teachers to escape.
