President Joe Biden speaks about the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, from the White House, in Washington, Tuesday, May 24, 2022, as first lady Jill Biden listens. – An anguished and angry President Joe Biden called for new restrictions on firearms Tuesday night after a gunman“We have to act,” Biden told the nation, after years of failure to pass new laws.
With first lady Jill Biden standing by his side in the Roosevelt Room, the president said, “It’s time we turned this pain into action.” The back-to-back tragedies served as sobering reminders of the frequency and brutality of an American epidemic of mass gun violence. It's unclear if the latest tragedy will change the political dynamic around guns after so many others — including the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut that killed 26, including 20 children — failed to do so.
“We have to have the courage to take action ... to ensure something like this never happens again,” she said.
Democrat mantra: 'Never let a tragedy go to waste'
Restrictions on guns can't predict or prevent the actions of a crazed person with a mission. If guns weren't even an option, they'd find another method. Mental health, emotional intelligence and resilience is the issue.
Secure the f’ing schools.
Won’t fix anything like this situation.
