The shootings occurred at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, about 85 miles west of San Antonio. The school has an enrollment of just under 600 students.
The Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District was immediately placed on lockdown after reports came in about the active shooter. Thirteen of the victims were taken to Uvalde Memorial Hospital for treatment, and University Hospital, reported that a 66-year-old woman was transported there in critical condition.The district used the city’s civic center as a reunification center where parents were able to pick up their children, once everyone was accounted for.
Uvalde Memorial Hospital asked that immediate family members of the children who were brought there to report to the cafeteria on the second floor of the hospital. Hospital officials asked that anyone who not a family member of a student to not come to avoid overcrowding.The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center is asking for blood donations. They have already sent over 15 units of blood and are running out. There is currently a blood shortage.
