An Evanston Township High School senior with Native American regalia on his cap was denied the opportunity to walk for his diploma at graduation.

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Nimkii Cyrkey, a senior at Evanston Township High School, had been looking forward to graduation Sunday. And just as he was about to walk the stage, his plans were halted.

The 17-year-old had placed his Native American regalia on his graduation cap. He refused to switch it out or take it off. By refusing to give over the sacred feather, he instead gave up his opportunity to take part in his graduation ceremony. He watched from the stands with his family, including his mom and sister."He's always been a humongous role model for me. He's paved the way for change," said Miigis Curley, sister and fellow Evanston Township High School student.

If there are rules you follow them just like everyone else. My daughter isn’t allowed to decorate hers either and no one is crying about it. Pick your battles.

Those costumes are part of the ceremony and indoctrination process of BS. That being the “higher education” industry of BS. Now that’s a kid so they need to follow the rules for now and the rules dictate a dress code. So too bad.

Dumb rules.

EVANSTON TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL IS LIKE A SMALL COLLEGE. ELIZABETH ANN SEBESTA ILLINOIS GOVERNOR 2022 CANDIDATE LOVE ITS GYMNASTICS CLASS AND WILL PROBABLY REQUIRE RECORDINGS BECAUSE OF THE GUN VIOLANCE ON TOP OF METAL DETECTORS. SAME WITH LINCOLN PARK HIGH SCHOOL CHICAGO IL, ETC.

HE SHOULD HAVE QUOTED WHERE HIS RELIGION STATES THAT THE RELIGIOUS FEATHERS HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION.... AS GOVERNOR, ELIZABETH ANN SEBESTA WILL CREATE MULTIPLE PATHS TO HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION ESPECIALLY LEARN AT YOUR OWN PACE, GRADUATE EARLY, HOME SCHOOL

THE UNIVERISTY OF WISCONISIN MADISON SHOULD BE AN EXCELLENT CHOICE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING. THAT'S NOT ONLY MY 15 YEARS OLD CHEMIST SPEAKING FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN EAU CLAIRE, BUT MADISON'S SOLAR PANEL KIT FOR MY DAUGHTER'S TODDLERISH INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE FAIR.

White men first stole this boy’s ancestral home, now they deny him the right to graduate with his peers. Why? Because he chose to be proud of his heritage. shameful

Good

He knew the rules and ignored them. A uniform dress code was required. If the school makes one accomodation, it turns into total chaos.

Because your Native American the rules don't apply to you? Your'e not allowed to add decorations to your cap....PERIOD. Regardless of religion. Let's stop catering to every person trying to incentivize their perceived victimhood.

Who graduation is it? Staff or STUDENTS? Colorless Ppl want 2 much CONTROL over EVERY1 and CAN’T CONTROL their brats or themselves
