“The commission decided to investigate the matter as on the face of it, or prima facie, it appears the violation of the affected student’s rights have taken place. If these allegations are true, this was an atrocious and despicable incident. Du Toit is accused of entering Ndwayana’s room at the Huis Marais residence and urinating on his books, laptop and desk in the early hours of Sunday morning. A video of the incident is circulating on social media.
I attended SU and saw white people humiliating each other like this too. Same with black people. A drunk white person tried to urinate in my room too and I am not black. The issue is a lack of morality and human dignity, not racism.
SAHRCommission is mostly mute, at best reactive & takes on a micro perspective. Dont duplicate effort, SAPS & the University are already investigating the incident. U should focus at social cohesion & prevelance of racism at institutional or sectoral level 🙃
