The controversy that trailed the arrest of two suspects in Sokoto over the murder of Deborah Samuel, a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, dominated the headlines of Nigerian newspapers.

Sunday Punch reports that Aminu Tambuwal, governor of Sokoto, has imposed a 24-hour curfew in the state over the violent protest that trailed the arrest of suspects in the murder of Deborah Samuel, a female student. The newspaper says that All Progressives Congress has thrown its presidential ticket open over the fear that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar may become the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party .
