Clarity on 'clinically appropriate' term would be welcome, says Harris

Further and Higher Education Minister Simon Harris has said the Government should give additional clarity regarding what the phrase"clinically appropriate" means in the context of the new National Maternity Hospital.

The constitution states the hospital will be able to carry out healthcare procedures which are legal and"clinically appropriate". But some politicians are concerned that it could be interpreted in a way that prevents women from receiving procedures they have requested such as abortions.

The Green Party deputy leader said she would now give her support to the plans for the re-located National Maternity Hospital when the Cabinet meets. Mr Harris said that the last two weeks have been"very useful" but he expects a decision on the hospital plan on Tuesday.

Hit and runs are like that.

It's absolutely essential, if it's possible. ' Welcome' makes it sound optional.

How many billions will this hospital cost and will Bam be the lucky construction company to build it. The paint is still wet on the NCH and costs are still on the up.

The problem is that people trust neither the Church nor most politicians, with good reason given our history with both institutions. A freehold transfer would have prevented possible future shenanigans, obfuscation and canon law with its 'crossed fingers' behind backs.

No one has ask the people who paying for all this what they want the tax paying mothers to be their ramming doctor and professor s opinion down people neck those taxpayers actually pay those wages to … HSELive

If a woman wanted to have a girl but a scan reveals that she's having a boy, or vice versa, is there anything stopping her in aborting that child? If that's what she wanted to do. Could someone tell her that it's not clinically appropriate and deny her the option?

It says a lot if Mr Harris is calling for clarification. He was the last minister for health. This government would want to start to get it together. People are fed up with their performance to date and will not accept much more of them

This is nonsense. we are paying for the hospital we should own it.

Last year I paid $4K (OOP) for Lipogem for my arthritic knee. FDA approved but not covered. My v. Improved mobility drove my better eating + allowed me to lose 40lb. Now I need no BP med, lower statins and A1C is low end of normal. My insurance company got a deal. BCBSMA
