They should let TrinityWestern open a law school in Ontario, instead.
Government should have no say how a particular 'university' expands. Of course, 'universities' shouldn't hold their hands out for such government funding either.

Ontario needs another law school like they need another police foundations program or teachers college. We don’t. Like article says there’s no jobs for the number of yearly graduates already produced. Universities want your money in programs like this knowing slim job prospects

Everyone agrees there are too many law grads. Toronto has two existing law schools, at universities superior to Rye. Sound decision that will save tax dollars and won’t exacerbate the lawyer glut.

Not surprising from a Premier who, like the US President Trump, is at pains to show his disdain for programs that benefit the marginalized. If people don't wake up and take the trouble to elect their true representatives, they will have deserved the likes of fordnation .

Sorry other Ford-haters, but this ain't an issue to gripe about. Read the article. The reasons for this decision are legit & reasonable. A career in Law is becoming less & less prestigious & rewarding w each passing year. It makes no sense to increase of grads in that field.

Ryerson should have remained a top technical college, rather than become a mediocre university.
So many unemployed lawyers, so many law graduates who can’t get called to the bar bc there are no articling spots. The last thing this province needs is another law school.
I think I know what went wrong The university said it would differentiate itself with what it described as a bold, new approach to legal education. Its aim was to focus on equity and diversity, while being a “champion for ordinary citizens and driver for small businesses.”
