Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene of North Beach, Greystones, at around 12.30pm after they received reports of three swimmers in trouble

A woman who died after getting into difficulty whilst swimming with friends in Wicklow on Saturday has been named locally as school teacher Lynne Freeman.It is understood members of Greystones Sailing Club offered assistance to the women initially before emergency services arrived.

READ MORE:Tributes pour in as Tipperary referee and dad of two dies after falling ill during GAA matchThe women, all aged in their 50s, were rescued from the water but sadly, Ms Freeman was pronounced dead at the scene.A second woman was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital. She was later discharged.Ms Freeman was a mum of two and a teacher at Ravenswell Primary School in Bray.One person wrote: “RIP, heartfelt condolences and thoughts to the family”.
