University Don lambasts military for failure to protect Nigerians despite huge budget

allocation and military hardware procurement, insecurity has continued to be a serious obstacle in Nigeria.

He said the security agencies promised to put an end to the series of senseless and unending terrorist attacks, herdsmen brutality and banditry but what is witnessed today, is an alarming rate of kidnapping, killings and demand for huge sums as ransom from families and relatives of kidnapped victims.

He said from 2015 to 2022, the security budget was N969 billion, while the budget in 2022 is N2.41trn, which is a 148.7 per cent increase in seven years, adding that despite this budget and spending on security in Nigeria, many parts of the country are not safe because of bandits attack He said the North West region has the highest cases with a total of 1,103, North Central 784, North East 488, South East 181, South West 127 and South-South 85 killings.
