Babalola lamented that those who were supposed to be engrossed with finding a new workable model of development for the country were faulting his suggestion, which he described as patriotic and targeted at finding a lasting solution to the challenges plaguing the nation.
He said his position was not in any way opposed to the nation’s democratic processes, adding that the idea of an interim national government had evolved over time and was being practised in some developed countries facing issues similar to those facing Nigeria at present.
Baba is making serious sense. Until a new constitution is enacted, nothing can ever work in Nigeria
The way, folks who should know better think, makes one to know we are indeed in a mess.
Will that bring JUSTICE & EQUITY, SIR?
Interim government ozokwa? Ndi otu Babangida na Abacha.
Nigeria don't need interim govt. Conduct election, let the incoming govt do that.
We all knew what became of our 1st experiment with an interim government. A very ambitious chief of army staff kicked it out d window, and started Nigeria on d road to Armageddon, but for divine intervention. June 8, 1998, was d day Nigeria came back from the edge of a precipice.
As well intentioned as that call may have been, it’ll lead us back to the days of anarchy, with a very real prospect of military intervention. Whatever constitutional amendment needed to make this a more perfect union should be channeled through the National Assembly.
This would be very good for the nation if it eventually happens
