Three people were shot and wounded early Saturday during a fight between two groups in the College Area, San Diego police said.
The shooting occurred shortly before 3 a.m. off Alvarado Road, near the Iconic on Alvarado off-campus student housing complex at San Diego State University, police said. Police said a group of college-aged people were walking down the street between parties when they were approached by another group. The groups exchanged words before a physical altercation ensued. Someone produced a gun and fired three rounds, police said.
A 17-year-old boy and two men, ages 19 and 21, were shot in the abdomen. They were taken to Alvarado Hospital Medical Center about a half-block away from the incident by their friends, police said. The 19-year-old underwent surgery to remove a bullet, but all three of the victims were expected to survive their wounds.Advertisement
