JaNeice Jenkins raced into action last Tuesday at East Orange Community Charter School.

It was shaping up as a typical school day for JaNeice Jenkins’ 3rd graders Wednesday at East Orange Community Charter School.

Minutes later, Jenkins realized one of her students had started choking on a water bottle cap. She performed the Heimlich maneuver on the boy, clearing his airway. The boy began choking on the cap after trying to open the water bottle with his teeth as he squeezed on it, Jenkins said. “He ran to me and couldn’t talk so he was pointing to his throat,” Jenkins said. “Then I just went to deliver the Heimlich maneuver and luckily it popped out and he was OK.”

Awesome job Mrs Jenkins

She is a true hero!

Thanks God !!

Man, I wish we had these cameras back when I was in school. All the freaking times i got spanked with a yard ruler by my teacher. These kids today don't know!

God bless you Miss Jenkins ♥️

Finally a great story with a real hero…..

Good job teach. Extra homework for the the kids for almost given you a heart attack.. lol

👏👏

Hero.

PhilMurphy A real hero needs to be recognized

I’ve told so many little kids not to open these things with their teeth. It’s better to ask for help than to choke.

These replies 😭 Y’all are so supportive of Black women when they’re saving white kids lol but any other time it’s racism and micro aggressions

Thank you!

Job well done. She stayed calm, and wasted zero time. Hero. 👏

My niece at 7 years old choked on the same thing in the back seat of her moms van while driving. She laughed as she opened it with her teeth, she’s 22 now, it’s something we’ll ever forget. My student had one in his mouth last week, immediately told him never to do that again!

Good job. Way to stay calm n take decisive action.
