Family, friends, and colleagues of Kartik Vasudev gathered at Nathan Phillips Square and held a moment of silence for the Indian student who was studying marketing at Seneca College and had arrived in Canada just four months ago.
Vasudev was on his way to work Thursday evening when he was shot outside of Sherbourne subway station in Toronto’s St. James Town neighbourhood. No arrests have been made in the shooting, but police have said the suspect is a Black male standing five-foot-six to five-foot-seven inches tall with a medium build who was last seen carrying a handgun and walking south on Glen Road toward Howard Street.
Seneca College President David Agnew was present at Sunday’s ceremony and spoke about the seemingly “random” nature of the shooting.
TTRRMK I used to live near Sherbourne back in 2018, I was assaulted in Downtown by a black drug addict in Jul/Aug of 2018. These type of goons should be caught & punshied
Just shameful that this young man came to our city to learn and grow and we couldn’t keep him safe. My heart break for his parents, wish there was a way to express our deep sorrow to them 🥲
Remember those 2000 guns taken from a truck in peterborough that the media falsely tied to the freedom convoy? Welcome to the new Summer of the Gun in Toronto.
RIP ,now it’s not safe to walk on streets.BAN GUN ,innocent lives are paying for it .
RIP . The one who is responsible must be brought to justice.
black guy with a gun, who would have thought ? Disgusting. toronto has turned into an absolute cesspool of violence . Why people live downtown and put themselves at risk ?
Omg
Who would kill an international student? The suspect clearly has mental health issues, they’re going to catch the guy for sure
It looks like targeted shooting- hopefully full reason comes out
Robbery gone bad Buddy thought he was an easy prey Fought back and ended up getting shot for it
What if we find out he was pushing drugs that killed several people? A vigil is way too soon
Sounds like a ' Hate crime 'for the suspect to fire so many shots killing the Indian student. Yes blacks too are very racist against whites, East Indians and Asians. Didn't hear John Tory speak on the this atrocious crime.
These hate crimes need to stop, the supramacist that did this should never see the light of day again. ✊
