The U.S. Attorney's Office in Houston had more bad news for former Houston ISD Chief Operating Officer Brian Busby and contractor Anthony Hutchison Thursday, as it announced new charges against the pair accused of engaging in a massive bribery scheme involved the school district.
"Hutchison also caused his gambling losses to be improperly deducted on corporate tax returns as alleged business expenses his companies incurred on HISD construction or landscaping projects," the press release stated. The kickback operation also involved former school board president Rhonda Skillern-Jones, former HISD Officer of Construction Services Derrick Sanders, HISD General Manager of Facilities, Maintenance and Operations Alred Hoskins, HISD Area Manager for Maintenance South Gerron Hall and HISD Are Manager for Maintenance North Luis Tovar. All have pleaded guilty and entered into plea agreements.
