PETALING JAYA: The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022 see Malaysian programmes rising year-on-year and achieving top 50, top 100 and top 200 ranks, featuring in 42 of the 51 subject rankings, with 207 entries.

A total of 25 of these entries were brand new while 55 rose in their position, 78 maintained their rank and 49 declined.

This year, two more universities broke into the top-30 with both UM’s Library and Information Management, and International Islamic University Malaysia’s Theology, Divinity and Religious Studies being ranked 28th in their respective subject tables. There were a total of 37 entries in the top 100 for various subjects table, an increase from last year’s 31, while there were 101 entries in the top 200.

QS research director Ben Sowter said: “Over the last five years, key stakeholders in Malaysian higher education have worked hard to improve its universities’ international visibility and cross-border collaborations.”
