High school students in Ohio could soon be allowed to sign endorsement agreements, should member schools pass a vote on the matter in May.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Name, Image and Likeness proposal being considered by the Ohio High School Athletic Association mirrors that of college sports, the OHSAA said Tuesday in announcing it is part of 14 referendum items during next month’s voting period from May 1-16. “This proposed addition would now allow student-athletes to sign endorsement agreements, so long as their teams, schools and/or the OHSAA logo are not used,” the OHSAA stated, “and provided there are no endorsements with companies that do not support the mission of education-based athletics.”
