Jury candidates who declare that they can be objective will complete a questionnaire that dives into their backgrounds and asks whether they can handle viewing graphic evidence. They will then return in a few weeks for courtroom interviews, where they must declare that they are able to vote for the death penalty but also don’t believe it should be mandatory for murder.
Catholic Church leaders, some Protestant denominations and Judaism’s major rabbinical organizations also oppose the death penalty on theological grounds, although many individual members support it in practice.This won’t be the first time Scherer, prosecutors and Cruz’s attorneys begin picking a jury for him. In October, Cruz faced trial for assaulting a jail guard nine months after the shooting.
Both sides receive 10 peremptory strikes for any reason except race or gender. Scherer has indicated she might add more, given the case’s high profile.

He looks like they took him out from under the prison, and I have no complaints. He doesn't get to see the light of day, those kids will never see it again either.
Florida has changed exactly nothing since then for safety in schools. Republicans just don’t care about school shootings. This is empirical data right here.
Kill that many people and the death penalty should be automatic. No jury.
Saving the world is a technical issue, such as technology in war decides Ukraine and the world. Now, only by changing people can we change the world. China has ruled west and stopped western changing. Only Russia can still change people. Russia should invent weapons!
What a waste of taxpayer money and time. The US is the only advanced country in the world with the death penalty. Without it, Cruz would long be out of the spotlight and behind bars forever.

This IS Florida right? Death sentence of life in a tiny cell 23 hours a day! That's a death sentence! & A well deserved slow death in a tiny cell for 50+ years.
Embarrassing that this took up to 4 years to get to this point. All that money wasted. Families have to sit and wait and this guy gets to eat and breathe every day. For trash that already plead guilty. The “justice” system just makes sure people get paid.
