New CDC data found that more than half of U.S. high school students suffered emotional abuse from a parent or someone else in their home since the start of the pandemic.

Brian F. Martin says his mom grew up in a violent household. Her father would slap her across the face and kick and punch her mother. Both her parents insulted her appearance, telling her she would never amount to anything.

new statistics on high school students’ mental health. Among its findings was an alarmingly high number of U.S. teens reporting emotional abuse at home: more than half. The hotline focuses on intimate partner violence, not child abuse, although emotional abuse is a “near-universal” component of all the types of abuse that callers report, Justice said, adding that the hotline had its highest monthly contact volume in history in February.

“We tend to place these types of abuse at a hierarchical order,” she said. “It’s true that someone may never experience physical violence, but abuse is abuse, and the essential element here is one person trying to maintain power and control over another.

“There’s a lot of stigma and shame, because the victim is made to feel like they’re worthless, so they start to feel that way.” He suggested parents tell kids: “I know this was a difficult couple of years for us as adults. I can’t imagine what this was like for you, and I know I have said and done things over the past couple of years. You didn’t do anything wrong.”

So I guess had Trump actually acted upon, instead of ignoring, the pandemic, kids would have suffered less, or no abuse during the time period studied.

They've probably been abused all along & it just got noticed because of the pandemic. This crap doesn't appear out of nowhere.

Hey parents, you are all kunts, we are going to turn your children against you so we can turn them into Marxists, just like chairman Mao did. CDC, MSN, shut these fukkers down now! Check the chinese cultural revolution. Coming to America soon if this shite is allowed to continue.

I bet a majority are GOP parents. Remember when those same parents protested masks and bullied kids for wearing masks. Their actions and reactions spoke volumes.

Please read the report, the nr's dont make sense. The highest physical but lowest emotional, it doesn't make sense, statistically the nr is way off compared to others. You can't adress the problem ad general if they're different.

MSNBC makes a post on Twitter and it brings out the butt hurt trolls. Predictable. 😂🙄

humans are main Viruses for this system

its time to educate your children by yourselves..break in to system

Trump would call this alarmist news the truth is that lockdowns were needed although reading this it seems some people struggled with lockdowns I find that surprising because most people that I seen handled it ok or well enough but the truth is had Trump not of

“Defined by the survey as being sworn at, insulted or put down by a parent or other adult in their home.” Well then…

I receive emotional abuse often. Just yesterday our 26 month old called me a poopie head. I know how these teens feel.

So 4000ish teenagers are upset because a parent told them to stop making tik toks, do their online classes and stop talking back.

More likely this shows how damn weak our children are. Toughen up.

Emotional abuse is better than dying of a deadly virus .. maybe we can offer pandemic counseling on the next variant
