The Tanner Rattlers baseball team snapped a five-season losing streak on Monday, according to coach Manny Lora, beating Columbia 14-10 on the road.The Class 2A Rattlers’ bats came alive against the Class 6A Eagles as Skylar Townsend, Ny’Quaveaus Green and Ellineaus Jackson all had multiple hits.
Jackson Prickett was 3-for-4 in both games for Priceville, with 4 runs scored in each. He doubled in the five-inning Game 1 and had 2 doubles in Game 2. He also picked up the win in Game 2, striking out 8 Brewer batters with no earned runs and three hits allowed. Garrison was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI in Game 2. Thomas Kerby was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Kerby struck out the side in 1 inning of relief of Garrison, who allowed 2 hits and 1 earned run.Auburn signee Emmah Rolfe continued her dominance over batters with three wins in the past week, including a perfect game in a 7-0 win over Jackson South, Tenn., and a 1-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 4-0 win over Mt. Juliet, Tenn. She picked up the win in the narrow victory over Hartselle on Monday.
Mackenzie Bowling was 1-for-2 with a triple and 2 RBIs. Both Sarah Snowden and Briley Zimmerman were 1-for-2. Zimmerman drove in 4 runs and Snowden had 2 RBIs.Eighth-grader Ella Kate Adams threw a no-hitter with 5 strikeouts in the Area 13 game on Thursday. MacKinley Portillo ripped a pair of grand-slam home runs on the way to a 4-for-4 performance at the plate.On Wednesday, Douglas beat rival Boaz 12-0 in 5 innings behind Portillo’s 1-hitter with 12 strikeouts. She was 2-for-4 at the plate.
