An Irish student fleeing the conflict in Ukraine is set to cross the border into the EU on Wednesday afternoon.However, the 19-year-old and hundreds of her fellow students in the northeastern city of Sumy became trapped in the country after Russia invaded on February 24.
On Monday, she escaped the hostel she was staying in on the Ukrainian-Russian border and began making a 17 hour journey to Poland. Rachael revealed she is on the Romanian border and said the feeling was "hard to explain but overall ecstatic".
