EXCLUSIVE: A letter was sent to city and school authorities addressing the vast concerns for safety and well-being over the situation, writes cwtremo. 'It appears to have been ignored by all those addressed in the letter.'

That is a current predicament at the University of Pennsylvania. A letter was sent to city and school authorities addressing the vast concerns over the situation. It appears to have been ignored by all those addressed in the letter.

“University of Pennsylvania policy is that if reports ‘are made with or come to the attention of the following offices, they must ensure that appropriate action is taken, including notifying the University’s AVP and Title IX Officer,'” Amanda Stulman, one of the signers of the letter, told me. An important caveat to all of this is the fact that Lia Thomas was on the men’s team for three years before transitioning to become a woman. As a former men's swimmer and someone who still has male genitalia, Thomas is routinely naked in front of female college students, some as young as 17. This should raise some huge red flags.

Another important aspect of this is the concerns of the female swimmers allegedly being ignored by UPenn officials. The letter speaks of incidents in which team members allegedly “have raised their concerns with the coach, trying to get Thomas ousted from the female locker room, but got nowhere.”
