Education and technology committee chairman Datuk Rais Yasin said data from the health authorities showed that the number of students testing positive had surpassed 1,000 cases.
“These schools will be closed for between five and seven days while disinfection is carried out by the relevant agencies,” he said yesterday. Rais said the affected schools were SK Kampung Tun Razak, SJKC Yu Ning, SK Paya Redan, SK Batu Berendam, SK Pulai, SK Chinchin, SMK Tun Tuah, SK Tun Syed Ahmad Shahabudin, SK Duyung, SK Bukit Rambai and SK Taman Bukit Rambai.He added that temperatures would continue to be taken at schools while RTK screenings would be done on targeted groups.
“The Melaka government is also intensifying efforts to vaccinate 98,200 students in the state,” he said, adding that only 18.5% of students had been vaccinated so far.
