California's indoor mask mandate will be ending tomorrow. Here’s what to know and what's different in the Bay Area:

indoor mask mandate in public settings for vaccinated people on Feb.16 at 12:01 a.m. Children, however, are still required to keep their masks on at school for at least another two weeks.state will reassess the current mask requirement for schoolsMost Bay Area counties, with the exception of Santa Clara Co., will follow the state's lead and lift their indoor mask mandates as omicron cases decrease.

Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, and the City of Berkeley willMask mandate to remain in place for CA schools as guidelines lift for other indoor activities Officials argued that COVID's spread has also waned significantly across the region and that relaxing mask requirements is part of a shift toward a"new normal" of living with the virus rather than attempting to snuff out its spread completely.

"We are able to take this next major step of removing the universal indoor mask requirement because we have laid a strong foundation in good public health protections -- especially vaccines and boosters -- and know we can reduce severe illness, hospitalizations and deaths," Contra Costa County Health Officer Dr. Ori Tzvieli said.Santa Clara County Health Director Sara Cody disagrees.

"We're taking a different course in Santa Clara County in that we are continuing to follow our data and metrics to tell us when it's appropriate to lift," she said."So that's the difference."

Still going to wear my mask

It’s about time. Can’t wait!

😷

Santa Clara county is smart. We just came out from a robust variant. Until vaccination rates are high & death rates very low I’m keeping my mask 😷 on. Stay safe

I will still wear a mask 😷

😷

It will be a pleasure to throw all the masks away for good!

NOPE

😷

Vaccinated people? But school still require masks? Please explain that rationale

Cautious af

I’m vaccinated …MASKS OFF!!! 😉

Nope not taking my mask off.

Nope!

I'm keeping mine on until the numbers are better nationwide.

I have had the vaccine, the booster and them had Covid. I will take it off whenever there is an opportunity. I wear it at work all day. But you do you and I will do me!

My mask will stay ON. I am a preschool teacher and none of my students are vaccinated, or even allowed to get it if they were so inclined. I'm also not taking it off riding on BART either.

Santa Clara should as well! There was NEVER any science for lockdowns, masks or anything else.

I already did, I thought the mandate was over today 😂

Not taking my mask off yet.

So glad politicians are making public health decisions.

I feel like I should still wear a mask around a lot of people.

What about CA Community Colleges?
