A single, two-letter word may cause thousands of baptisms to become invalid.

A priest who had performed baptisms has stepped down after learning that he had wrongly used a single, two-letter word instead of the word “I,” invalidating baptisms that he had done over the years. The Rev. Andres Arango had said “We baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,” while performing the ritual in the Catholic church he served, The New York Times reported.

Now that the baptisms have been deemed invalid, it could mean that other Catholic rites may not be valid either.posted online “Maybe! Unfortunately, there is no single clear answer.”

OH GOD THEYRE ALL GOING TO HELL! HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?!

This is the dumbest thing I have heard in quite awhile.

The Bible says one must be 'submerged' in water.....which means every Catholic baptism is invalid. Plus, baptism is a self conscious dedication to God....no baby is able to make such a decision. But then again, hardly any Catholic beliefs follow the Bible.

If the church truly believes in the trinity of the father, the son, and the holy spirit being simultaneously 3-in-one, then the plural “we” would be more exact. Which means the use of “I” is inaccurate.

Sensationalisim.

Imagine burning in hell - your body is literally on fire - for eternity because your priest said 'we' instead of 'I' by accident. It's all so absurd.

So he didn't say his magic spell correctly? Tsk tsk. Now the magic won't work.

Baptism is a promise not a script, it is not subject to verbal technicalities

Are the Catholics not getting vaccinated or something?
