According to the district, the school has received a College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles.
To receive the award, schools must have 50 percent or higher female representation in their AP computer science courses. ”These schools are closing the gap in computer science education and empowering young women to access the opportunities available in STEM career fields,” Stefanie Sanford, College Board chief of Global Policy and External Relations, said in a news release.Overall, female students remain underrepresented in computer science classes, making up only 34% of AP Computer Science Principles participants, the release said.
