JUST IN: The right-leaning national organization, Parents Defending Education, agreed to drop its suit as Wellesley Public Schools promised to clarify that any student can join the affinity groups it initially created for students of color.

challenging its creation of affinity groups for Black, Latinx, Asian and other students of color.

The affinity groups launched last school year as a part of the suburban Boston district's five-year,"diversity, equity and inclusion" plan. The district at the time said the groups were an"opportunity for people within an identity group to openly share their experiences without risk of feeling like they will offend someone from another group, and without another group's voices.

"Because racial affinity groups divide children by race, these groups foster racial division and do far more harm than good," the group argued in its complaint. The national organization, which has filed similar complaints in Ohio and other states, describes itself as a national group formed to"prevent the politicization of K-12 education, including government attempts to force students into divisive identity groups and to silence students who express opposing views."

I graduated from Wellesley Senior High School in another era. During my time there the community had endless meetings about banning books and also grudgingly agreed to bussing in a few black kids from the inner city. It wasn’t easy for them there. I hope times have changed.

WhiteFragility in defense of WhiteSupremacy because anything approaching equality makes 🇺🇸 notice there is no reflection in the mirror. “democracy” is bullshit.

Not by Hispanics! Or not by Asians. But by Blacks!

Who is responsible for monitoring kids' social media use? Government? Schools? Parents?Just 1% of 815 Utahns who responded to a Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll said schools should be responsible for monitoring how minors use social media platforms. Meanwhile, 73% of those polled said parents are responsible. It’s not schools fault! Raise your kids right! I would never give my child a phone, I’ll give them a quarter if they need help! Just like my parents did! Social media is raising kids today! That’s scary

School district in Thurston County ending student protests on campusAfter a student-led protest and walkout at River Ridge High School in Olympia on Jan. 31 in support of a student-athlete who was the recent subject of racist taunts during a basketball game, North Thurston Public Schools said it will halt student protests on campus. North Thurston School Board meeting on 8 Feb at 6pm. Instead of protesting, how about create a solution? No? You’d rather whine avoid a problem than actually do something to fix it. Think about it. The hours spent protesting and making signs could be spent looking for people who need help due to racial abuse or rape. Never should have allowed the teachers to organize them in the first place.
