The Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Maiduguri chapter, says the Federal government’s treatment of lecturers is worst than the experience of Boko Haram insurgency experienced in the North-East in the past 12 years combined.
According to the chapter, the university was compelled to join the national body of ASUU for the demonstration. As a starter, the Chairman of ASUU UNIMAID chapter, Abubakar Mshelia, said the lecturers would observe the lecture-free day declared by the national body on Wednesday while they await the resolutions of the National Executive Council meeting on Saturday, February 12, 2022, scheduled to hold in Lagos State.on Tuesday at the ASUU Secretariat of the university in Borno State.
He said, “Let me tell you about this lecture-free day declared by ASUU, ASUU has 13 zones and each zone is to pick a day to observe the directive. we the UNIMAID chapter falls in the Yola zone of ASUU and we held our zonal meeting last Sunday.
