SINGAPORE — Over 192,000 children in Singapore aged between five and 11 have received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine as of Feb 3, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said on Friday, while more than 56,000 of them have been fully vaccinated.

In total, MOE said that it has delivered close to 250,000 doses of the Covid-19 vaccines to children here, with a “record number” of about 60,000 doses delivered between Jan 24 and 30.

The education ministry added that it has also received about 18,500 registrations from children who are of typical pre-school age — which it defines as those born in 2016 and 2017 — on the Ministry of Health’s National Appointment System. Of these, close to 13,000 children have received their first Covid-19 dose.

“MOH mobile vaccination teams will be deployed to Special Education schools for students who may find it challenging to visit a vaccination centre for their boosters. Sped schools will share the registration instructions and guidelines with students and their parents/guardians.”MOE noted that relatively fewer remaining children will need to be vaccinated at the end of the month after “another three to four weeks of high vaccination demand”.
