CHICAGO -- Chicago Teachers Union President Jesse Sharkey will be returning his full attention to the classroom after announcing he will not seek re-election in the union.
"It's a difficult job. It takes wear and tear. I've been doing it for a long and I'm ready to move on," Sharkey said. "We put in contract provisions for enforceable class size, for nurses and clinicians in every school by the end of the contract," He said."We struck in '12, there was a one day strike in '16 over funding, and there have been job actions around COVID," he said.
