Citing a “coordinated misinformation campaign” against his bill, a Utah lawmaker said he's dropping the controversial efforts he’d proposed to require teachers post their class syllabuses and a list of learning materials online for parents to inspect.

Under SB114, every public K-12 school district and charter in Utah would bethrough their local school board — allowing for parents to review curriculum and weigh in before it could be taught in the classroom.

HB234, Teuscher said, was also meant to give parents more transparency into the classroom and “help alleviate feelings of mistrust between parents and teachers.” Both bills have the support of, an outspoken right-wing coalition of roughly 4,000 parents that push for conservative policies in schools across the state. Both have been opposed by teachers.

Teuscher said the syllabuses didn’t have to be a “complete itemization of every lesson.” But the bill noted that the educator must “ensure that any learning materials used for student instruction that the educator did not list on the online syllabus are listed in the school’s learning management system.”The petition from the UEA

Just like Florida the totalitarianism by the GOP is out of hand. Politicians deciding what your kids learn not the professionals in charge of teaching the kids. Shameful, un American, and abhorrent. This is the start of a bad trend.

Syllabuses or syllabi? 🤔

He wouldn't have gotten in such trouble if he'd just taken the time to post all the sources he used to craft his bill online 30 days in advance so his constituents could review them.

Let teachers teach.

It was ridiculous, he coordinated it himself by introducing it and the people responded. I hope he resigns himself as well.

Good. Our teachers are overwhelmed enough with all the silly stuff administrators and legislators want them to do or not do. Just let teachers teach!

jordanteuscher and LincolnFillmore represent me. Their bills are an unnecessary and overly burdensome level of control.

In line. These aren't being passed for all people these are being passed for certain areas where a majority of certain ppl of certain colors live. U still strive to oppress u can't stop us from learning wat long trails of blood u have left behind

If you no longer what to be associated with things u still do stop doing them. Stop oppressing minorities stop saying mexicans who laid claim to this land before u even found this continent 'illegal aliens' stop saying we are 'invading America' stop trying to

What is with this we are white so let's pretend what genocides we committed never happened. You can't hide from your past white people you can't hide from the long long history & tradition of travesties made by you. You currently still do genocidal things.

Now he has to whine about his bill being scrutinized by the adults he’s supposed to represent. Ironic.

a “coordinated misinformation campaign” = your idea created a partial vacuum. 🤨

This is an example of a person who shouldn't be in his position.

he did not mean to say that

I’ve heard rumors it’s being reintroduced. Does anyone know if this is true?

Like to read the whole article But the poor are denied access At the paywalls Oh just a few dollars you say For some food or pills Facist gov moving right along

“Misinformation campaign”? According to attendance docs (which he kinda denies), Rep. jordanteuscher virtually attended an ALEC workshop on using misinformation to mislead the public about CRT, which included model legislation that in many places matches his bill word-for-word.

Why the heck is that controversial? Dang.

Begging a Republican to get a suit designed in this millennium.

Why am I not surprised that a conspiracy theorist claims it was a conspiracy that stopped his bill? Did he name the conspirators or do his voices not have names?

He proposed? There seems to be a coordinated effort by outside interests (ALEC?), writing the proposed legislation for several Republican led state legislatures. Look at Iowa, their 'proposed' bill looks awfully similar.

The only misinformation is that lesson plans aren't already available should a parent so desire to take an active role in their kids life. I get that that goes against the Utah feral 'parenting' style, but it's true.

He’s only pulling for this year. He plans on doing some work to it and bringing it back next session.

Utah teachers fight against curriculum bill that would require materials be posted online 30 days in advanceThe measure, SB114, has drawn vocal opposition from teachers but strong support from conservative parent groups since it was introduced. There needs to be an addition to this bill that any parent that comes to a teacher and complains about the curriculum without bothering to go online and see what the curriculum is, owes that teacher $1,000 for wasting their time and loses any right to complain about curriculums. Where is Parents United when the schools need substitute teachers? What are these parents afraid of? Teachers have enough on their plate, parents don’t need to add more. Are any of this group of parents substitutes?
