‘Very, very, sad’: Dick announces 12 new COVID deaths, masks mandatory for high school students

Twelve more Queenslanders have died in the past 24 hours from COVID-19, Treasurer Cameron Dick reported on Saturday.

He said four of the 12 fatalities were not vaccinated. Two people had received a single dose of a vaccine, five had received two doses, and none had received a booster shot.“About 10 per cent of the population is unvaccinated, but they make up a third of all deaths in Queensland [from COVID-19] in the last reporting period.

He said the COVID-19 recovery situation on the Gold Coast was “seven days ahead” of other parts of the state.
