have called on superintendents to perform a systemic review of "inappropriate" materials in their states’ schools
"It shows people hanging, it shows them killing kids, why does the educational system promote this kind of stuff? It is not wise or healthy," School Board Member Tony Allman said about the book, which was part of the district's eighth-grade English language arts curriculum. Randi Weingarten, the president of the American Federation of Teachers, which does not play a role in McMinn County, noted the timing of the news on Twitter. Weingarten, who is Jewish, pointed out that Thursday is International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Surprised Tennessee even has books in the state….
That's fine, ban whatever ..... folks can still go to the library and read.
Tennessee has been coming up a lot in the news and not a positive thing
I read these as a pretty young kid and they were amazingly understandable. I was able to get the absolute gravity of the situation without (possibly) absorbing too much of the horror for my growing brain to handle. I was a big fan of them, and think they’re a valuable collection.
They don't want kids to learn how similar gop and Nazis are
GOP’s Soviet-style thought police
Talk about being snow flakes — banning books has never shown to be effective or a smart move.
