Doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result defines idiocy. And yet, as schools stay closed, here we are. Could we have been spared the vacillation and be given real information? Opinion by ShreeParadkar

Like many parents, my husband and I spent last week feeling sick about the choices ahead.

Vaccinating Ontarians, though critical, is not enough to build us a safety net. Have we not learned this yet? At the very least, the entire world needs to be vaccinated. What data? The premier talking in terms of “hundreds of thousands of cases” and “getting hit like a tsunami” and hospitals overwhelmed by volume is useless in understanding why schools should remain closed.

A Toronto teacher told me some students would beg her not to call home if they had symptoms; them being home meant their guardian/caregiver would have to self-isolate, leading to loss of much-needed income. What an unconscionable burden for ailing children to bear.

ShreeParadkar You're raising an alarm about schools reopening, yet in the article you present no evidence as to why this is a bad idea. Where is the reasearch? And you call yourself a journalist...

ShreeParadkar Why is the press not asking Ford why he won’t deal with the unvaxed idiots? Why aren’t vaccine passports being expanded and enforced. Hospitals are on the brink of collapse because of the unvaxed and Ford goes after children, business and those who did the right thing.

ShreeParadkar It actually defines INSANITY! 'The biggest question...was what does the govt. plan to do during the time the children are away to make it safer for them to return? The question was asked..but yielded no satisfactory answer' The answer is nothing! fordnation FordfailedOntario

ShreeParadkar Boohoo. Let's all write how bad the pandemic feels for all of us. Group whining always works.

ShreeParadkar Intentional negligence. Ontario govt knew that all educators were recommending smaller classes, boosters set up for kids on sites, recommended upgraded masks, and rapid tests.. Nope, we got closed classes due to budget cuts, classes more crowded, tweet about N95 deleted, etc

ShreeParadkar Your questions about data on school transmissions are key. Also where are hospitals getting overwhelmed by Omicron ? All I read statistically is that there are hundreds of empty ICU beds, fully staffed, waiting for patients from this 'mild' variant that will soon lose strength.

ShreeParadkar Idk can the media do a better job of asking tough questions about corporate welfare instead of enabling the theft with their fear and loathing bs? You have been one of the foremost fear and loathing journalists at the Star. Maybe take a look in the mirror.

ShreeParadkar Do we think they are stupid and lack moral judgement though? I think that lens helps them do more harm…let’s call it what it is.

ShreeParadkar Could we have been spared an inept government whose agenda is clearly to decimate public healthcare and education, to ignore science in favour of business, and to continually do the wrong thing or delay the right thing? Yes. We could not vote for ignorant ass hats.
