Covid Ireland: Latest on schools reopening as Department of Education issues statement

Ireland has reported record-high Covid-19 case numbers this week, with the fast-spreading Omicron variant accounting for almost all infections.

A meeting between Education Minister Norma Foley and teaching unions is due to take place in advance of that date, on Tuesday, January 4. “As previously agreed, a meeting with public health will take place next Tuesday between unions, management bodies, the Minister and the Department of Education in advance of school reopening.”
