In a statement, the UL Hospitals group said access to nominated support partners was temporarily restricted in its inpatient wards. "Partners will be asked to consider an antigen test prior to attending."

Nominated support partners are being limited to one two-hour slot per day between the hours of 2pm and 8pm."We recognise that this represents a considerable reduction in access on our inpatient wards," the hospital group said.It said an online booking system is available for partners to complete a Covid questionnaire in advance of attending the hospital.

"We also encourage partners to consider taking an antigen test in advance of attending UMHL should they have one at home." The statement added that access would continue to be granted to labour wards throughout labour and delivery as well as operating theatres, neonatal intensive care units as well as 12 week and anomaly scans.

UL Hospitals Group is made up of six hospital sites in the Midwest; University Hospital Limerick, University Maternity Hospital Limerick, Ennis Hospital, Nenagh Hospital, Croom Orthopaedic Hospital and St. John's Hospital Limerick.
