B.C. delays return to classroom for most K-12 students until Jan. 10 as province reports 2,944 new COVID-19 cases.

Schools will be open for children of essential workers and students with special needs on Jan. 4Students are pictured at Garibaldi Secondary School in Maple Ridge.

"Parents are encouraged to reach out to their school principal to make those arrangements," Education Minister Jennifer Whiteside said.Whiteside said a staggered approach will allow public health and education officials to assess the impact of the Omicron variant and plan for enhanced safety measures at schools.

"But taking a few extra days now for planning and preparation … we are setting up our schools for the best possible start."The president of British Columbia Teachers' Federation had been urging the province to delay the start of the winter term in public schools in recent days. "We feel like there's going to be a good possibility that a lot of staff and students will be impacted by Omicron," Mooring said. "And we're concerned that we're going to see really high case counts in schools."

西安市民没有物资,街道封锁管控,没有食物市民挨饿,相关部门不作为,民政局踢皮球 The citizens of Xi 'an have no materials, the streets are blocked and controlled, there is no food, the citizens are hungry, the relevant departments do not act, the Civil Affairs Bureau does not act

This makes no medical sense . Alec Baldwin has killed more people than kids dying from Omicron

I've added England, France, Italy, USA, and NYS (dotted) for contrast. SK is *third worst* in Canada! Q: Why project +10% daily? A: Hospital numbers are doubling in about *seven days* in many places.

Why is hybrid classroom not ok? schools

Brdcaster Check out the name of the bus company. I googled it and it is legit. Maybe they need to change it to fourth wave

Lot of bad information in this article. All vaccines do not stop transferring virus. All variants are still infect vaxxed people, u just don't get very sick (mostly). And omicron has not yet overtaken delta. Calm down. 99 percent (give or take a point) still mild to very mild.

Public health guidance for schools has also changed in the face of the highly contagious Omicron variant. How many have died from omicron? We've been here before. It is reasonable to urge prudence after data shows the variant is dominant. Monitoring hospitalizations and increasing third doses are only two considerations. Eventually the spread will reach those who have no protection and/or little immunity. If highly contagious then why is Quebec having positive healthcare workers work . Keeping firing Canada and Trudeau, job well done.
